Jen is a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) with a Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology, a Post Baccalaureate in Counselling and Human Development, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Humanities and Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies. With her educational background and previous experience working as a personal fitness trainer, she is familiar working with a range of ages, multicultural identities, gender and sexuality identities, and abilities. Jen is particularly passionate about working with those within the LGBTQIA2S+ community as well as anyone experiencing chronic pain and/or illness. She primarily uses a Person-Centered, Culturally Responsive, Strengths-Based approach along with an intersectional perspective that takes into account a person’s multiple, intersecting identities and how they relate to various struggles and concerns. Jen considers an individual’s unique experiences and needs and may incorporate other approaches, such as Affirmative therapy, Solutions-Focused therapy, Narrative therapy, Cognitive Behavioural therapy, and Mindfulness. In her practice, she emphasizes collaboration, nonjudgemental listening, and understanding the client’s experiences from their perspective in order to help guide them towards growth, positive change, and acceptance.
